Networks are the picks and shovels of the 21st Century economy. They are fundamentally altering knowledge management, the business landscape, the environment, health care, humanities, government, education, defense and civil society.  Comprehension and mastery of networks is the pathway to prosperity.

You are cordially invited to attend the next gathering of The Texas Network in Irving, Texas on Thursday, 24 September, 2009. The themes are the Future of Networks, Knowledge Management and Social Media.

All are welcome. Please be advised that your community event will reach capacity quickly! You are encouraged and welcome to share this invitation with your colleagues and clients. Secure, online registration in advance is required. Registration and photo ID is required for event building access. Registration ($99) includes meals, parking, refreshments, materials, Wi-Fi access, reception, group workspace and discounts.

The applied use of network technologies, applications and methods is the forefront of business today. Uses of Web 2.0, Social Network Analysis, Social Media and Knowledge Management technologies, methods and tools are giving many organizations a distinctive competitive edge. They are also creating new challenges for management. While productivity and innovation are rapidly advancing vis-à-vis network technologies, network applications can also raise employee and client confidentiality issues, for example. Leaders must equip themselves with comprehensive network know-how, next practices and abilities to optimize business effectiveness and achieve optimal outcomes.

Meanwhile, the economic downturn has sharply increased the need for individual networking and rapid knowledge sharing -- not just to survive but to truly prosper in the 21st Century. This is one purpose for forming The Texas Network and inviting you to join your community. Regularly engaging in diverse, authentic conversation and community propels wealth creation, success and well-being. Nurturing networks and shaping productive relationships is an essential and perpetual business activity.

The Texas Network will share ideas and lead conversations on these and other topics:

  • What can we do now with networks to optimize future performance?
  • How can network knowledge be re-purposed to improve business outcomes?
  • What network applications capture knowledge that has walked out the door?
  • How has economic turmoil impacted our people – will they still share their knowledge?
  • What network technologies, applications and methods will win business and increase knowledge transfer right now?
  • How do I use social network analysis and social media to build business? How do we protect employee confidentiality and relationships?
  • What are the leadership imperatives of the network economy? What are the network drivers for productivity and innovation?

As always, the emphasis is on next practices, authentic conversation, building relationships and co-creation of the future. Participants hail from industry, services, government, academia and professional organizations. Gatherings are informal but focused. The agenda is below and linked here:
